To create a sustainable net positive impact in our partner communities around the globe by providing skill-based workshops and access to high quality educational platforms and curricula to youth and adults. This impact is generated through a growing network of independent, international traveler- volunteers who are dedicated to connecting to global communities through these set points of learning and collaboration.
To create a network of thousands of travelers that are interacting, teaching, learning and collaborating to create positive changes with local communities, small businesses and ecological/environmental initiatives throughout the globe.
We believe that measurable, positive impact is possible when there is access to global market, information and innovation AND local knowledge, tradition and skills are recognized and leveraged.
DGYG is not a fundraising platform. We are a relationship-based non-profit that looks to create opportunities for unique interactions between traveling volunteers, local leadership and organizations. There is no cost to either party to become a member of DGYG, nor to volunteer, nor to receive volunteers.
We do not look to participate in or replicate the all-inclusive voluntoursim model. We are a network of independent travelers and small scale/high impact organizations. Our role is to connect, inspire, facilitate and support interactions where both sides are engaged and working towards the best volunteering plan both for the traveler and for the local organization.
We look to redefine voluntourism to something we refer to as RTV, Responsible Travel & Volunteering. Meaning that everyone that decides to take a trip can make the decision to Do Good as You Go, within their reach and according to what is needed and desired from the local community. It only requires a change in mindset about travel, a willingness both to serve and learn, and the support of DGYG HQ staff to guide and coordinate the volunteering aspect of your travel. It is absolutely possible to make a positive impact as you travel. There are ways for you to volunteer and collaborate with local communities, even if you are limited on time.
